A streptococci
- The Group A Streptococci (GAS) are the major cause of streptococcal infections in humans, causing many infections, such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, scarlet fever and skin inflammation.
- Approx. 1 million new cases are registered annually which underlines the importance of rapid and reliable detection of streptococci.
- Rapid immunoassay for the detection of GAS from throat swab specimens.
Testing is very important as fast identification and subsequent treatment of GAS is extremely effective. Post-infection complications of GAS can be very serious; about 15 million children between the ages of 5 and 15 suffer from rheumatic heart disease, and rheumatic fever and, in rare occasions, death can also occur if untreated.
Test features:
- Direct detection of GAS from throat swab specimens
- An immunochromatograhic test with rapid results in 10 minutes
- Sensitive: 5 x 105 CFU/ml.
